Supporters Trust Response to non-Transfer of Majority Shares |
|
|
|
Following
the announcement by Dorchester Town chairman Shaun Hearn that he will not be
transferring his majority shareholding in the county town club to the Dorchester
Town Supporters Trust at the present time, Trust chairman John Greenslade believes
that the Trust will continue to go from strength to strength, and remain in
a position to accept ownership of the club should circumstances change in the
coming months.
Greenslade
said “We are obviously disappointed that Shaun has decided against pursuing
the model of community ownership at the current time. Since we were approached
by Shaun with regards to taking on his majority shareholding, we have remained
transparent and consistent in our approach, which was to present a proposal
that would take the football club forward by addressing several areas of immediate
concern. Primarily, our proposal was focussed on the best interests of the football
club and not the best interests of any individuals. This approach will always
remain the same, as our key motivation is to secure the long term future of
Dorchester Town Football Club.

Trust Board Member Steps Down |
|
|
|
It is with regret that we have to announce that Ashley Jury has decided to
step down as a Supporters Trust board member; Ashley cited a very busy work
schedule as the reasoning behind his decision.
Ashley said that he still wants to be actively involved with the Trust in
some capacity by helping with future events and fundraising for which we are
all extremely grateful.
Ashley was Co-opted onto the Trust board in November 2010 and was subsequently
voted on as a full board member at our December 2010 AGM.
The Trust board would like to thank Ashley for all is hard work and efforts
during his time on the Trust board, his contribution to the conversation will
be greatly missed.
There will be a presentation event on the pitch after the last game of the
season against Bromley, prior to the main event being held at the Wessex Royale
Hotel. The Dorchester Town Supporters Trust will be putting on a free to all
buffet in the lounge bar after the game as a mark of appreciation and a thank
you for all your support throughout the season.

Hearn set to keep control at Avenue |

SHAUN Hearn will not be handing his majority shareholding to the Dorchester
Town Supporters Trust for the time being but admits that community ownership
is ultimately the way forward.
The Magpies’ chairman announced in December he was prepared to relinquish
control at the Avenue Stadium, providing the Trust could devise a suitable plan
to take the club forward.
The latter submitted their proposal to the county town businessman on March
7 but after much consideration, Hearn has deemed the terms unacceptable at present.
By the same token, the Dorchester supremo conceded that the Trust’s ultimate
aim, of turning the Magpies into a community-owned club, is the ideal model
for the future.

Youth section backs Magpies' Trust |

FOLLOWING the news that Magpies’ chairman Shaun Hearn is considering
transferring his majority shareholding to the Dorchester Town Supporters Trust,
the Dorchester Town Youth committee has expressed its support for such a move.
A statement issued by the youth committee, which represents 35 football teams
and over 500 youngsters in the county town, reads: “Dorchester Town Youth
FC is fully supportive of the proposed share transfer from Shaun Hearn to Dorchester
Town Supporters Trust, which would in turn lead to the football club becoming
community owned.
“Our support for this transition is in no way a criticism of the current
chairman or board of directors, but a community owned football club and a close
working relationship with the youth set-up is certainly a concept that fits
with the philosophy and long-term vision of Dorchester Town Youth FC.
“As a committee, we will continue to be in regular contact with the Trust
board during the coming weeks to establish how we can work together for the
benefit of both the football club and the youth set-up, if the club was to become
community owned.
